The World's Largest Mural: A Monumental Work in the Heart of Mazatlán

In the heart of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, stands a monumental artwork that highlights the historical and cultural richness of the region: the "Historical, Economic, and Tourism Development of the Sea of Cortez" mural.

This majestic creation, recognized by the Guinness World Records in 2009 as the largest mural in the world created by a single artist, is the work of the talented Sinaloan artist Ernesto Ríos Rocha.

Location and Dimensions

Located on the exterior of the Mazatlán International Center, this mural covers an area of 1,678.43 square meters. Its structure consists of 105 reinforced concrete panels, each measuring 5 by 3 meters, meticulously assembled to form a unit 24.56 meters high and 68.34 meters long.

A notable feature of this artwork is its modular structure, allowing for its relocation if necessary.


Creation Process and Technique

The creation of this colossal piece took 18 months of hard work and the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, and artists.

Ernesto Ríos Rocha used a mixed technique that combines various materials and styles, including:
